Atlas of Global Migration: Freedom of Movement, Borders, Inequalities
On 14 September 2022, Migreurop is publishing its 4th Atlas!
This volume offers an original and illuminating examination of contemporary migration issues based on the multifaceted concept of ‘freedom of movement’.
Used as a slogan to signal a radical rejection of current migration policies, this concept is also one of the cornerstones of European integration, as well as of other regional frameworks.
To better understand it, this 4th Atlas offers a critical analysis of the policies implemented by states to facilitate mobility in general. It also highlights how migrants confront and circumvent restrictive immigration policies on a daily basis to exercise their own freedom of movement.
Drawing on a study of its historical forms, a critical analysis of current regional spaces, and the theoretical currents that have shaped it, this Atlas aims to renew our understanding of the concept of freedom of movement and settlement.
Each section brings together texts by experts with rich and creative imagery, alternating between ‘classic’ themes and current topics (the pandemic, data circulation, women’s migration, ecology, etc.).
