Judgment of the 56th session of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal

On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, in Rabat, the jury of the 56th session of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal (PPT) delivered its final judgment, recognizing the States of the Maghreb (Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania), the European Union, and several of its Member States as guilty of systematic and systemic violations of peremptory norms of international law and of crimes against humanity.

Preliminary statement by the jury of the 56th session - Palermo (October 2025)

From October 23 to 25, 2025, at the Sabir Festival in Palermo, the 56th edition of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal was held, focusing on violations of the rights of migrants in the Maghreb. During three days, experts, survivors of migration routes, and human rights defenders came to testify before the court.

After five years of legal battle, KISA is now vindicated by the Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC), which annulled the decision to deregister KISA from the Register of Associations, after first ruling that the First Instance decision of the Administrative Court, which ratified the Registrar’s decision to deregister it, was not justified .
