KISA is again under attack by government

KISA, a Cypriot member of the Migreurop network, is once again in the government’s sights for its action in favour of people in exile. Since 14 December 2020, KISA has been removed from the Register of Associations, pretexting that it did not comply timely with the administrative procedures as per the “Law on Associations and Foundations” of 2017.

In Cyprus immigration and asylum laws do not respect European Union standards, putting migrants and refugees in a position of extreme insecurity, especially those that are kept prisoner in detention centers. In Nicosia, the latter are held in premises that are absolutely inappropriate to detention (lack of privacy, overcrowding), while Cypriot law does not stipulate a time limit for the administrative detention of foreigners .
