As part of session #24 of the Echanges & Partenariats programmes, Hugo Roche Zaradzki, a volunteer on behalf of Migreurop, carried out his mission from October 2021 to March 2022 with KISA, a Cypriot member of the network. He was based in Nicosia and tasked with investigating the migration context in Cyprus, which is particularly hostile to people n the move, with a focus on the right to asylum, the detention of exiles, their criminalisation and that of their supporters.

One week after 4 people seeking to reach the UK from France died in a shipwreck, Migreurop joins civil society organisations and activists from the UK, France, Belgium, and beyond to remember those who died and denounce the murderous policies faced by people on the move on both sides of the Channel.

Public webinar organised by Migreurop
On December 9, 2022, Migreurop organised a webinar on criminalisation of solidarity with a focus on migrants in solidarity. While the issue of the crime of solidarity is now increasingly highlighted within Euro-African civil societies, little is said about the criminalisation of migrants in solidarity with their own cause, yet prosecuted for much more serious offences and sentenced to much heavier prison terms.

On 28 September 2022, the 3.5 year anniversary of the arrival of the El Hiblu 1 in Malta, Migreurop joins the "Free the El Hiblu 3" campaign and co-signs the open letter addressed to Attorney General Victoria Buttigieg to request that the Maltese authorities drop all charges against Abdalla, Amara and Kader.

Since his conviction on September 30th for 13 years and 2 months in prison, support protests in favour of Domenico Lucano, former Riace village mayor in Calabria, have multiplied in Italy and elsewhere. While "Mimmo" Lucano’s welcoming policy had made Riace and its mayor the symbols of an alternative society based on mutual aid, his conviction is widely perceived as yet another attack on solidarity with migrants.
