Lesvos/ Greece the new European cage for migrants
Euro Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN), Migreurop, Welcome to Europe, Youth without Borders (Jugendliche ohne Grenzen – JOG) and their afghan friends and members, who had been detained in the hell of Pagani in 2009 and before as minors and returned to Lesvos these days and Migreurop jointly wrote a press release on Lesvos Island and the newly centre opened on the Island.

The campaign of parliamentary visits to migrant detention sites was launched on 24 April 2013 at the European Parliament .
Over three months, members of European and national parliaments took action, asserting their right – guaranteed by law - to visit detention sites, in order to strengthen citizen surveillance of these structures, to underline the need for transparency and to give greater visibility to problems related to the detention of migrants. In 2010, in the same place, two simultaneous shipwrecks resulted in close to 400 victims. In 2009, 200 people drowned in the high seas off the Sicilian coast.
