The FRONTEXIT campaign will be launched on Wednesday 20 March in Brussels, a city at the heart of Europe. The campaign is supported by many human rights organisations in the south and the north of the Mediterranean. These organisations are calling on FRONTEX, the EU border agency, to be transparent and accountable in its management of Europe’s external borders. Most importantly, they demand that the rights of migrants are respected at the borders.

The European Union invests millions of euros in a quasi-military operation to keep its external borders under surveillance: FRONTEX.
Situated in the Caucasus at a crossroads between Europe and Asia, Georgia is at once a country of transit, emigration and destination. With a population of 4.7 million, one third of the inhabitants are below the poverty line and 16 per cent are unemployed Since the fall of the Soviet Union, Georgia has experienced sustained emigration; every fifth family in Georgia depends on money transfers from abroad .
