Launch of the second edition of "En finir avec les idées fausses sur les migrations" ("Ending Misconceptions About Migration")

Available in bookstores from 2 September 2025 - Launch event on 18th of December 2025

Migreurop renews its partnership with the second edition of Sophie-Anne Bisiaux’s book ‘En finir avec les idées fausses sur les migrations’ (Ending Misconceptions About Migration, in French).

About the book

The book, produced in partnership with 21 associations and organisations involved in migration issues, takes into account all the events that have occurred since its first edition in 2021 (the war in Ukraine, Giorgia Meloni’s rise to power, the election of Donald Trump, the European Pact on Migration and Asylum, the immigration law in France, etc.). Sixty misconceptions about migration are analysed and debunked, in order to dispel the notion that a welcoming policy is impossible.

When it comes to migration, misconceptions die hard, as discourse fuelled by fear and even rejection is repeated and trivialised in political circles. In the current worrying context of rising racism and the far right, it is more necessary than ever to republish this book, which shows that all this discourse is largely based on misconceptions: This book brings together resources and arguments that help to dismantle the representations that stand in the way of a dignified welcome for those who arrive, whether they are migrants, refugees or people on the move, but also for those who are already here, whatever their status.

In response to critics of any kind of welcoming policy, but also to those who are hesitant or concerned, this book offers an overview of migration, providing readers with a wealth of information, figures, data and facts. Organised by theme and written in a very accessible style, the book seeks to counter 60 misconceptions and convince readers that welcoming exiles is not only possible, but above all desirable.
